Tribute & Message From The Family

Marilyn P. Holmes, 74, of Beech Grove, IN, passed away on February 15, 2018. She was born May 25, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN, to Norris Edwin Holmes and Velma O. (Nagle) Holmes. She studied at Indiana University and received her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. After completing her education, Marilyn enjoyed working and traveling for many years with Delta Airlines until the time of her retirement.
Throughout the years, Marilyn got to see the world and go on many adventures with her job. She never passed up the opportunity and encouraged those around her to do the same. And while she had many joys in life, she found the most enjoyment was the time spent with her family, close friends and her cats. Marilyn is survived by her sister, Janine Holmes; as well as her cousins, Judy Lacey, Phil Nagle, and Donna Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her uncle, Ernest Yeager; aunt, Norma Yeager; uncle, Donald Emerich; aunt, Ruth Emerich; uncle, Ralph Nagle; uncle, Guy Nagle; as well as her cousins, Doug Nagle and Bobbie Jo Johnson.
Graveside services for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 12:00 PM in Orchard Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at or the Hendryx Mortuaries' Facebook page. Hendryx Mortuaries is honored to be assisting the family with the services.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Marilyn was such a loving and genuine person. Her laugh was contagious and she was definitely a part of the family. One of my favorite memories of Marilyn was when my boys brought a Christmas tree upstairs to her when she was renting the upstairs and her eyes just lit up! She will be dearly missed and remembered with great fondness.

Marilyn lived upstairs in our house for years while she ran Delta reservations in Salt Lake City, she always felt like part of the family. I can still hear clearly her genuine unforgettable laugh. Rest in peace Miss Marilyn.

In 1994 I personally experienced the kindness and concern Marilyn had for her Delta family members. I will never forget the support and encouragement she extended to me. RIP, she was very special.
