Arthur P. "Art" Kelly of Indianapolis passed away August 21, 2017. He was 78 years old. Art was born December 7, 1938 in Clydebank, Scotland to Timothy and Agnes Kelly. Art served honorably in the British Army from 1956 until 1958. He was a member of the Highland Dancers, and danced for Queen Elizabeth in November of 1958 at Royal Albert Hall. Art immigrated to the United States on February 12, 1968 and met the love of his life, Janie on January 10, 1975. One week later Art and Janie had their first date. They were married December 18, 1982 and have been happily married until his passing. Art was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed playing cards, golf, and soccer, and was widely known as an excellent checker player. He loved to sing and dance, but above all else he cherished the time he spent with his family. Art passed away on the same day as the solar eclipse; which was truly fitting, as he was always intrigued by astronomy. He even has a star named in his honor. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by two brothers; John and Timothy Kelly, and one sister; Rosina Ferguson. Art is survived by his wife Mary Jane "Janie" Kelly; daughters, Janet Carlson, Carol Kelly, Lillian Craft, Christina Kelly, Angela Price (Eric), and Patricia Kelly (Adrian); Sister, Molly Connolly; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Services for Arthur P. Kelly are Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel, 11636 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, 46229 with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Hendryx Mortuary is honored to be assisting Art's family with services.
