Carl V. Summers of Indianapolis passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016. He was 87 years old. Carl was born in Bardstown, Kentucky on July 15, 1929 to Edward and Mae Edna (Roby) Summers. Carl proudly served his country as part of the United States Navy during the Korean War era. Carl was an avid trap shooter, and was a past winner of the Indiana State Trap Shoot. Carl was also honored with the Kentucky Colonel Award. He owned Carl Summers Ford in Fortville, and Summers Truck Body in Indianapolis. Of his many accomplishments, Carl was most proud of his family, and the time he spent with them was always most important to him. In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his daughter Susan Willis; three brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his long time friend; Cleda Janke. His children; Larry Summers (Carole), Kathleen Bass, and Tammy O'Brien (Joe). One sister; Theresa Roberts, as well as eleven grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
Services for Carl V. Summers are Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 2:30p.m. at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel. 11636 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN. 46229 with visitation from 12:00p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Acton Cemetery. 7900 Acton Rd. Acton, IN. 46259. Memorial contributions may be made to Flashes Football Foundation, 4251 Wanamaker Dr. Indianapolis, IN. 46239 or American Legion, Historic Ft. Harrison Post number 510 at 5440 Herbert Lord Rd. Indianapolis, IN. 46216
