"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 1 Timothy 4:7
Dan Sass, 53 years old, from New Palestine, IN finished the race of his life, and won his fight against cancer when he was called to his heavenly home Sunday July 9th. Dan was born October 28, 1963 in Lincoln Park, Michigan to Rodney and Mary Jean Sass. He was the oldest son of six children.
Dan met his wife of thirty-one years, Susan, in Chicago, IL while they were both on sport trips for their respective college. They married on February 1st, 1986. They were blessed with three children, and two grandchildren.
Dan loved spending time with his family. They often traveled as a family to watch their two sons play soccer, first in travel leagues and then later as they both played in college. As a papa he enjoyed feeding the cows and playing around the farm with his grandson, Creighton. In addition to his own children, he was blessed with many nieces and nephews, where he was actively involved in their lives and the activities they enjoyed.
Dan was employed with Techniks as a quality control manager, where he enjoyed the comradery and mentorship opportunities he had with those he worked with. He was an active member of his church, Zion Lutheran, New Palestine, where he served on the Board of Church Properties and helped with many projects around the church and school. He was loyally serving others and continually looking for ways to go the extra mile to serve his friends and family.
In addition to his father, Dan was preceded in death by his father in- law Robert Rathmacher. Dan is survived by his loving and devoted wife Susan of 31 years; Children, Danielle Sands (Andrew), Justin Sass (Brooke), and Michael Sass; Mother, Mary Jean Bollinger as well as two grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday July 12th at Zion Lutheran Church, New Palestine. Visitation will be from 3-6pm, with the service being held at 6pm.
