Steven Luther "Bubba" Martin, 62, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away February 1, 2017. He was born March 29, 1954 to William L. Martin and Jacqueline (Sullivan) Martin of Indianapolis. He later met and married Jaylene Martin in 1983 and they have been happily married for 33 years. After completing his education, Steven proudly served for 8 years in the United States Army before being honorably discharged. After the service, he was employed at the Indianapolis Star as a District Sales Manager as well as President of the union for the circulation department. He then started Martin's Construction Services which he owned and operated for 12 years with his wife. Steven was an avid golfer, proud veteran, and loyal friend who lived life to the fullest and enjoyed each and every moment he shared with his family and friends whom he loved very much.
In addition to his wife, Steven is survived by his son, Steven Martin, Jr.(Carrie); granddaughter, Destinee Marie Martin; great-grandson, Damian; as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, William Luther Martin III; and his sister, Sandra Martin. Services for Steven will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, at 1:00 PM with visitation from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM prior to service at Hendryx Mortuary – Cumberland Chapel, 11636 East Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Steven's name to the Wounded Warrior Project or to organization of the donor's choosing.
